Turning a corpse into ashes and placed in a respectful urn can be done at a cremator in a tasteful manner. After the person is given a funeral, the casket and body will then be taken to a refractory and placed in a chamber with a coal, coke, or natural gas fired furnace. The person's remains will then be incinerated and turned into ash. If the family wishes, they can have a collection of the remains put into an urn for them to keep. Infant or fetal remains can also be taken from their funeral in their coffin to a factory. Crematories can be found by searching the internet for a local company or by looking in a phone book. A chapel where many funerals are given may also be able to tell you of a place you can visit to make any necessary arrangements. Even though some religions don't agree with burning a body, others prefer this method to being buried in the ground. Family members can keep the container with the remains from the factory. A corpse that had a service in a chapel would then be sent to a cremator instead of to its burial ground. Friends, family, and neighbors may know of crematories in the area for you to look into. Of course you will want to choose a place that is trustworthy and follows proper procedures. Ask how long they have been in business and what their customer satisfaction rating is. If you aren't happy with the custom service you're given try finding a different company to work with instead.

People may prefer to be cremated at a crematory than buried at a cemetery for a variety of reasons. A person may want to be cremated after they die because they view it as more practical and easier than arranging a burial and complex funeral service. Some people may wish to have their ashes spread at a location they loved instead of being buried in a cemetery, and some religions also prefer cremation instead of burial as well.
